Mr Allen Hubbard
EAL teacher

I changed career in 2013 and moved to China to work in an International school in Beijing. I enjoyed a variety of roles from working as a TA to coaching our school sports teams and advising prospective parents in my role in the admissions office. I completed my CELTA qualification and have been teaching EAL since 2016. In 2018, I was delighted to take on the role as Head of EAL. I really enjoy the variety of teaching across different year groups and aim to inspire children to learn English with great topic based learning and by establishing a really positive rapport between teachers and pupils.

Prior to working in China I spent 30 years working in senior management roles in the UK and, as I have always enjoyed learning, I undertook an MSc at Loughborough University graduating in 2008. When our two sons completed university, my wife and I decided it was the perfect time for a new adventure. Now, after 6 years in China, we have decided that the opportunity to start at a new school in Portugal is perfect for us and we are very excited about the future with BSL.

About Allen

Outside of school I enjoy keeping fit and I walk and swim regularly. I love having the opportunity and time to travel and explore new places. I am a keen sports fan – Brighton and Hove Albion are my team. Our family are based in the UK and we are looking forward to seeing more of them now we are back in Europe.
