My experience in the Education field started in 2006, in Lisbon, where I had the opportunity to work as an English Teacher at 3 different Elementary schools. Working with children proved to be an extremely satisfying experience and my interest in continuing to work in this field developed quickly and strongly at this time.
In 2008, I had the opportunity to go to UCSB (University of California, Santa Barbara), in the US, and work as a Lecturer for Portuguese Studies, as part of a two-year program. Here, I also had the privilege to enter in the Iberian Linguistics M.A and Ph.D. program at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, focusing in the area of second language teaching methodology.
While completing the graduate program, I was also able to continue my experience with foreign language instruction as a Teaching Assistant, for 6 years. After returning to Portugal, in 2016, I taught Portuguese for foreigners to students coming from different parts of the world. I believe that joining BSL will be a really enriching experience that will give me the chance to work with children again and continue to work in an international school environment.
ABOUT RAQUEL PAIXÃO
Besides having a strong interest in the contact with other languages and cultures, I have always been interested in activities as singing, drama and arts and crafts. I am a mother of two young boys and I really enjoy to engage with them in these kind of activities.
