MAKING LISBON’S FAMOUS PASTEIS DE NATA
Only a short walk away from The British School of Lisbon is the renowned TimeOut Market. As part of our Portuguese programme, Year 4 had the opportunity to learn hands-on how to make Lisbon’s famous Pasteis de Nata.
Traditional bakers led a cooking session which took the children through the process from start to finish. This included creating the delicious custard filling and producing the flaky pastry bases. The children discovered that the secret to a well-flavoured custard is to include cinnamon and lemon peel and that individual baking tins help to create a crisp tart.
It was agreed by everyone that the end results were delicious!
