BSL LIVE! Watch the video.
BSL Live was launched at the beginning of the 2024/25 academic year, bringing together children and staff for two days of diverse activities and team-building exercises. This initiative set the tone for the year, fostering positive energy, a spirit of exploration, and a passion for learning.
sail away!
At BSL we feel that it is important to maximise the opportunities that living in Lisbon, and being close to the waterfront, offers so we have partnered with Associação Naval de Lisboa, the oldest nautical association in the Iberian Penisula, to provide our students with an introduction to sailing.
BSL SCIENCE WEEK
At BSL we strive to instil a lifelong interest in science and a desire for intellectual challenge in all our students. Our BSL Science Week enabled the children to see the scope of science, developed their skills and provided a lot of fun!
Rock bottom rocks!
There are many benefits to school performances including building and developing self-confidence, promoting self-expression, overcoming anxieties about public speaking, developing memory skills and encouraging creativity.
BSL Residential 2022
An activities based residential trip is exciting, full of fun and laughter and has many new learning experiences. The challenging and confidence building activities take place in a safe and stimulating learning environment where children are encouraged to take risks, work collaboratively and build new friendships.
BSL Sports Day 2022
Sports Day is a wonderful opportunity to bring the students together to participate in physical activity in a competitive and supportive environment.
BSL International Day 2022
Our international day was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our school community with over 35 nationalities represented by our students.
Sleeping with the Sharks!
School excursions are an important part of our curriculum at The British School of Lisbon. They allow teachers to take learning beyond the classroom and spark the student’s curiosity and imagination.
Read, read, read!
At BSL, we want to instil a lifelong love of reading. Delving into the world of books, ignites creativity, sparks curiosity and stimulates children’s imaginations. Instilling a love of reading at an early age helps build children’s vocabulary and helps to develop their confidence and independence. It also lays the foundations for logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Christmas Greetings!
It was a wonderful end to the Autumn Term with seasonal festivities taking place throughout the school.
As always, the younger children were thrilled to see the return of our BSL ‘Elf on the Shelf’ and were eagerly looking for him when they arrived in school throughout December. He definitely got up to mischief when left alone in the school and the children enjoyed following his exploits along with suggesting what he might do next!
BSL SCIENCE WEEK
Children are naturally curious and during our recent BSL Science week, we wanted to nurture this curiosity. As well as helping children understand the world around them, experiences in science help children to develop critical thinking, effective communication, collaboration and creativity.
ENRICHMENT
Our students have been enjoying the broad range of enrichment activities that are available at BSL. Many of the children are engaging in an activity for the first time, such as Sailing, Violin, Judo, Ballet or Roller Skating whilst others are enhancing existing skills and knowledge in clubs such as Chess, Choir, Science and Robotics & Coding.
SUMMER CAMP
With a blend of academic and enrichment activities, our Summer Camp was the perfect way to start the summer holidays. Our programme challenged the children, encouraged resilience, promoted teamwork and provided new experiences.
MUSIC SHOWCASE
Music and joy filled the school during our recent Music Showcase. Our Music teacher, Ms Dutot, had prepared a diverse programme which included a swing performance on the recorders, a shadow song with singing in three parts and a well-choreographed rap and dance, amongst many others. The children excelled themselves, introducing their class piece and performing confidently to their ‘virtual’ audience.
CHARITY ART AUCTION
Last week, we were delighted to host our first British School of Lisbon Charity Art Auction. Thanks to the hard work, support and generosity from our school community, this was an extremely successful event which raised a substantial amount for charity.
