STAFF PROFILE - TEACHING ASSISTANT

CATARINA LOPES

“The most rewarding part of being an early child educator is playing a fundamental role in how children grow, learn and develop.”

I am Portuguese, I was born in Lisbon and I attended an International School in São Domingos de Rana, having been awarded a bilingual diploma in Portuguese and English. Growing up in an international environment I interacted with people from different cultures, languages, beliefs and perspectives which has shaped who I am and the way I see the global community.

After I graduated school I pursued my education further and decided to attend Law School in Lisbon. While attending university I did volunteering work with young children in a Nursery in Belem, where I discovered my passion for education. After, I graduated Law School in 2023, I decided to change my career path and I began working as a teacher assistant.

The most rewarding part of being an early child educator is playing a fundamental role in how children grow, learn and develop. It is fulfilling to witness children reach milestones, such as being able to count or being able to write their own name. Seeing the pride on a child´s face when they achieve something they thought they would not be able to do is priceless. As an early child educator I get to witness the children´s achievements first-hand and I feel proud that I am able to provide students with the necessary skills to thrive
