STAFF PROFILE - TEACHER

Clare Blake

“EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND SHARED VISION IS A KEY IN BUILDING STRONG AND POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WHERE ALL PARTIES FEEL VALUED AND SUPPORTED.”

I qualified as a teacher in 1996 gaining a BA(hons) in Primary Education with creative arts. Throughout my career I have worked mainly within Dorset teaching across Early Years and KS1 and this has provided an excellent knowledge of the English National Curriculum.

I have a passion for teaching in the Early Years and hold a strong belief in the value of early childhood education and the enduring impact that this has for the child. I endeavour to provide each unique individual with a love of learning that inspires them to ask questions, to rise to challenges and to not be afraid of taking risks and for this growth mindset to support their development as lifelong learners.

I strive to set an ethos of positivity where all learners develop a ‘can do’ attitude.  Through planning an exciting curriculum and ensuring a stimulating learning environment, I ensure the learning is meaningful and purposeful to all individuals.

ABOUT MRS BLAKE

I recently started sailing and now have my own yacht ‘Sitara’. It has been exciting to be engaged in the challenges of new learning as I embarked on competent crew training and also in achieving my day skipper qualification. I have developed my skills through sailing the English Channel and look forward to exploring Portugal on my yacht. As well as sailing, I have been involved with many sports over the years and as an ex elite gymnast, I love to work alongside the children and occasionally demonstrate gymnastic skills.

I am very excited to be joining the British School of Lisbon and learning more about life in Portugal and also in learning the language!
