STAFF PROFILE - PORTUGUESE TEACHER

JOANA MARTO

I WANT TO INSPIRE STUDENTS TO LEARN AND TO KEEP GOING THROUGH ALL CHALLENGES, IN ORDER TO FIND THEIR PASSIONS, THEIR CAUSES AND THEIR WISHES, AS IT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR EACH OF THEM TO FEEL UNIQUE AND A SENSE OF BELONGING.

I studied Classical Languages and Literature at university. I was invited to teach Portuguese in Goa; this was the most wonderful experience of my life. I taught students aged 6 to 66 years old.  Whilst in India I had the opportunity to help create the first TV show in Goa, ‘Kaleidoscope’, and created a cooking workshop where the students learnt to make Portuguese sweets. Following these experiences, I knew I wanted a teaching career and I returned to train as a teacher in Portugal.

Since qualifying as a Portuguese teacher, I have been teaching Portuguese in private Portuguese schools in Lisbon for the last 10 years.  I am looking forward to teaching Portuguese in an international school and working with student of different ages.

ABOUT MS MARTO

I like books, spending time with friends and traveling with my family. I have a noisy laugh and I love to feel that people are comfortable and amused by my presence. My favourite places on Earth are nature, bookshops, the beach - even in winter - and the theatre.
