STAFF PROFILE - ACTING DEPUTY HEAD

Karen Moodie

“CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT OF ENJOYMENT AND CURIOSITY IN THE CLASSROOM IS KEY TO MY EVERYDAY TEACHING AND I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT ENCOURAGING CHILDREN TO BE CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS.”

I qualified as a teacher in Edinburgh in 2006 having spent 2 years living and working in an orphanage in Guatemala. This had given me the desire to work in education and I have combined both my love of travel and teaching ever since.

Over the years I have taught in schools of a variety of sizes and styles in Lisbon, Madrid and Edinburgh. I have worked primarily in Key Stage 2 so far in my career and have also enjoyed taking on leadership roles and developing new curriculums. Creating an environment of enjoyment and curiosity in the classroom is key to my everyday teaching and I am passionate about encouraging children to be confident individuals with high expectations.

ABOUT MS MOODIE

I grew up as an international child and think there is nothing better than learning new cultures and languages. I enjoy discovering the back street gems of new cities - of which there are numerous in Lisbon! To relax, I love to immerse myself in a good book, to go to the theatre and the odd concert.
