“EACH EXPERIENCE I´VE HAD AS A TEACHER HAS TAUGHT ME THAT IT IS ESSENTIAL TO TEACH CHILDREN TO BE KIND, CURIOUS, OPEN-MINDED AND HAVE A LOVE OF LEARNING ”

After completing my degree in History of Art at The University of Birmingham, I went on to work as a writer and editor in Hong Kong. Although I loved writing, I found my experiences working with children in schools and through volunteering purposeful and rewarding. This led me to retrain and complete my PGCE with The University of Sunderland. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to teach and work with a wide range of students in various capacities; from working in Reception, to working across a whole school as a Learning Support Teacher, to my most recent role as a Year 5 Classroom Teacher at an international school in Hong Kong.

Each experience I’ve had as a teacher has taught me that it is essential to teach children to be kind, curious, open-minded and have a love of learning. I believe that this will drive innovation, creativity and global responsibility, benefitting the futures of the children we teach today.

ABOUT MS BRIGHT

I grew up in Hong Kong and have family in Australia and the UK, so I enjoy being in multi-cultural environments where different traditions can be shared and appreciated. Art is a passion of mine and I love to try different creative projects at home. In my spare time you’ll find me exploring all the beautiful beaches on our doorstep and discovering new hiking trails for my rescue dog!

My proudest achievement would be changing my career later in life to something I feel passionately about. I'm so lucky to have a fulfilling profession that I enjoy!

(I've also recently climbed a 4600m mountain in Peru, which I never thought I'd be able to do... so I'm quite proud I managed to survive that!)
