“I ASPIRE TO EQUIP EVERY STUDENT WITH COGNITIVE AND EMOTIONAL TOOLS TO CREATE MUSIC EXPERIENCES THAT ARE PERSONALLY MEANINGFUL THROUGH JOYFUL LEARNING”

STAFF PROFILE - MUSIC TEACHER

Mariana Ottosson

After graduating from Lund University -  Malmö Music Academy in 2011, I ventured to Portugal after securing an audition to join an orchestra established for Guimãraes, during its tenure as the European Capital of Culture in 2012. Settling here, my passion for Music Education steered me towards a teaching career, allowing me the privilege of instructing music across various schools while maintaining collaboration with prominent orchestras in the region.

When coming to BSL, I was captivated by the high standards and the welcoming environment. In this spirit, I aspire to equip every student with cognitive and emotional tools to create music experiences that are personally meaningful through joyful learning.

My musical journey started with the piano and later embraced the cello. Among the highlights was winning a gold medal in Berlingske Tidendes Classical Music Competition and being awarded a scholarship from The Royal Swedish Music Academy. I enjoy listening to all styles of music, but classical music is especially close to my heart. Listening to favourite composers such as Tchaikowsky, Mahler and Schumann inspires me every day.
