Sports For A Healthy,

Active Lifestyle

Our aim in Physical Education (PE) is to introduce students to a wide variety of sports and activities with the hope that they leave school recognising the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle after developing a love for physical activity. Throughout the year, sports competitions and inter-house tournaments help develop critical skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork.

All children benefit from a balanced and broad Physical Education curriculum in which they are given help to realise their full potential in all aspects of physical activity.

There is no doubt that Physical Education plays a vital role in a child's development. The curriculum is designed to enable all children to participate in a wide range of activities in many varied environments thus enabling them to enhance their knowledge, understanding, and ability to apply physical skills.

Furthermore, the children are encouraged to work safely and independently, whilst learning to understand and appreciate the long-term benefits of regular physical activity on the body. This enables pupils to make informed decisions regarding adopting and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle outside of school.

In the foundation stage, physical development is largely about improving coordination skills, manipulation, movement, and control. Primary age children learn through aspects of dance, gym, games, outdoor adventure activities, net and wall games, and athletic pursuits.

Additionally, we advocate both the effective use of the PE curriculum and extra-curricular activities through clubs before, during and after-school. This enables students to appreciate their own and others' achievements, we believe this makes a significant contribution to our student's emotional, intellectual and personal development.
