STAFF PROFILE - ART TEACHER

Beth Hannam

“I AM REALLY EXCITED TO BE JOINING BSL AND TO FORGE LINKS WITH LOCAL ARTISTS AND MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES”

I am originally from a small town in the East Midlands, UK and I have been teaching Art and Design for the last twelve years in schools in London and internationally in Thailand and Spain. After graduating from Cambridge School of Art with a degree in Illustration, I moved to London and worked for an arts charity, delivering art programmes in primary schools. I later completed a PGCE in Art and Design and spent eight years teaching in Secondary schools in London. I am passionate about learning and in 2018 I decided to return to university to study an MA in Museums and Galleries in Education at UCL. This has supported my teaching of contemporary arts in education as well as working with young people in gallery education.

My love of learning continues to grow and I strive to create opportunities for students to collaborate, take risks and develop their skills in critical thinking. I am really excited to be joining BSL and to forge links with local artists and museums and galleries.

ABOUT MS HANNAM

I am a keen traveler and continue to use this as inspiration for my own practice as an artist. You will often find me sketching and taking photographs. I very much enjoy hiking, cycling and discovering new places and fully immersing myself into the culture. I am looking forward to discovering Lisbon’s vibrant art, food and music scene.
