BSL SCIENCE WEEK

At BSL we strive to instil a lifelong interest in science and a desire for intellectual challenge in all our students.  Our BSL Science Week enabled the children to see the scope of science, developed their skills and provided a lot of fun!

A visit to FIC.A (Festival Internacional de Ciência 2022) provided opportunities for students to engage with scientists from around the globe.  With over 2,500 activities, experiences and exhibits, there was something for everyone from our Early Years to Secondary students.  Many of the exhibits were ‘hands-on’ which allowed our students to engage with the scientific concepts in an age-appropriate way.

In school, the students developed their working scientifically skills throughout the week engaging in a range of activities with an overarching theme of ‘Change’.  The children particularly enjoyed their practical sessions with our science specialist.

Our BSL Science Fair rounded off a busy week. The projects submitted by our Upper Key Stage 2 and Secondary students were varied and of an exceptional standard.  The students were clearly motivated to share their investigations in creative ways and brought their projects to life for our younger students.  Our Secondary students did a wonderful job of guiding our younger students through the projects and clearly not only do we have some great young scientists in our midst but also some aspiring teachers.
