CHARITY ART AUCTION

Last week, we were delighted to host our first British School of Lisbon Charity Art Auction.  Thanks to the hard work, support and generosity from our school community, this was an extremely successful event which raised a substantial amount for charity.

Each class was tasked with creating a collaborative piece of artwork for the auction based on the theme of ‘Our City’.  Inspired by our local environment and various artists, our children set to work.  Subjects for their artwork included the River Tejo, 25th de Abril bridge, the Ascensor da Bica, Lisbon’s brightly coloured walls and traditional tiles and our local Time Out square.  The children were very proud of their final pieces of artwork which truly reflect ‘Our City’.

The auction was enjoyed virtually by our families and there was lots of competitive bidding!  Congratulations to all the families who were able to secure a piece of artwork which I am sure will be treasured.  Thank you also to The Schools Trust for matching the highest bid and generously donating to our chosen charity.

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to a Lisbon based charity that works both with children and art - Raizes.  By donating to this charity, BSL will be contributing to the Lisbon community and showing our students that they can help those less privileged through their works of art.
