ENRICHMENT
Our students have been enjoying the broad range of enrichment activities that are available at BSL. Many of the children are engaging in an activity for the first time, such as Sailing, Violin, Judo, Ballet or Roller Skating whilst others are enhancing existing skills and knowledge in clubs such as Chess, Choir, Science and Robotics & Coding.
As well as being engaging and providing lots of enjoyment, activities are designed to promote curiosity and problem-solving skills, give opportunities to work collaboratively, encourage resilience and build self-confidence. Being confident when trying something new can be challenging. Our enrichment activities allow children to try new interests in a supportive environment which going forward makes it easier for them to tackle new experiences with confidence.
It has been wonderful to see our youngest students problem solve during our Inventors Club or shine when speaking out during drama activities and to see our older students learn how to rig a sailing dinghy or compete in our inter-school Chess tournament. But most rewarding is when enrichment experiences spark a new passion or reveal a new talent for the students which I know has happened over the last few weeks.
