@HOME LEARNING PROGRAMME
As we embark on our period of @Home Learning here at BSL, we strive to ensure the continuity of education for all our students. Building upon the successes and feedback from last year’s @Home Learning programme, we will offer learning that is purposeful, fun and engaging for all our students. Our programme will be a balance of live sessions and independent activities that follow the English National Curriculum and promote our high academic standards.
We recognise the importance of belonging and a sense of community; students will meet on a daily basis with their teacher and classmates, both as a whole class and in smaller groups. The students’ timetables will reflect lessons and activities that take place during a normal school day, providing a well-balanced curriculum. Lessons from our specialist teachers for languages, PE and Music will continue and our dedicated team of teaching assistants will provide 1:1 support with phonics and reading.
While some aspects of learning may not transfer as easily to an online environment, students will learn new skills and develop important personal and academic competencies in a virtual learning environment. Staff will promote students’ independent learning skills, resilience and personal organisation through our @Home Learning Programme which will enable them to navigate this period successfully and provide skills that will support them through their life-long learning journey.
Our students will continue to shine and demonstrate their enthusiasm for learning through our weekly Assemblies and @Home Challenges as we work together to as a school community to thrive in these challenging times.
