Read, read, read!

At BSL, we want to instil a lifelong love of reading.  Delving into the world of books, ignites creativity, sparks curiosity and stimulates children’s imaginations.  Instilling a love of reading at an early age helps build children’s vocabulary and helps to develop their confidence and independence. It also lays the foundations for logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

 The theme of World Book Day 2022 was ‘You are a reader’ and our BSL Book Week embraced this theme as we encouraged children to read, read, read!  Events throughout the week included: a visit from Ireland's finest traditional storyteller, Niall de Búrca, who enthralled the children with his stories; ‘buddy reading’ across classes; book character quizzes, a BSL Book Swap Fayre, book character dress-up, playground reading accompanied by hot chocolate and opportunities for children to share their love of reading with their classmates.
