SPORTS DAY
Sports Day is a great opportunity to bring together the school. It is well-known that physical activity develops both physical and mental strength, and the benefits of Sports Day extend beyond the playing fields and into the classroom.
ASSEMBLY TIME!
Our regular weekly assemblies play an important role in bringing our school community together - providing an opportunity to nurture a positive school ethos, address key themes, promote our values and celebrate our students’ achievements.
VIEWS OF LISBON
The integration of art into the curriculum is crucial to creating well-rounded, well-prepared learners and leaders. Art experiences boost critical thinking, teaching students to take the time to be careful and thorough in how they observe the world. Here at BSL we weave art into our thematic curriculum as well as teaching specific skills.
THEMATIC LEARNING
Having a theme gives us time to explore a topic in many ways and incorporate all of the different subjects in an integrated, engaging and exciting way for the children.
ENRICHMENT
Our students have been enjoying the broad range of enrichment activities that are available at BSL. Many of the children are engaging in an activity for the first time, such as Sailing, Violin, Judo, Ballet or Roller Skating whilst others are enhancing existing skills and knowledge in clubs such as Chess, Choir, Science and Robotics & Coding.
SPRING FESTIVITIES!
Our school building was once again alive with smiling faces and a busy and purposeful atmosphere as we welcomed all our students back into school for the final two weeks of term. The children had an EGG-cellent end to the term being able to participate in the spring festivities with their classmates.
BOOK WEEK LAUNCH!
To launch our Book Week, we were delighted to have the support of HE British Ambassador Mr Chris Sainty along with representatives from the American Embassy and Indian Embassy, the ambassador to Portugal from Kosovo, Ms Margarida Rocha e Melo from Católica University, Mr Rui Almeida Chairman of the Board of BPCC and our Schools Trust trustee.
THE BRITISH SCHOOL VIRTUAL END OF YEAR HOUSE CEREMONY

CARNIVAL DAY!
On Friday, 12th February, BSL celebrated Carnival Day. The children always enjoy our whole school celebrations, and these occasions play an important role in bringing our school community together.
@HOME LEARNING PROGRAMME

CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES
The children have thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas festivities during the final week of our Autumn Term. As well as completing Christmas themed activities, the children enjoyed Christmas lunch, and searching daily for BSL’s Elf.
BSL CHARITY APPEAL
The initial idea for our Christmas charity appeal – BSL’s 12 Days of Giving - came from one of our teachers. The local charity we chose to support was inspired by our families who joined together to support a SOUMA initiative earlier in the year.
CODING & ROBOTICS CHALLENGE WEEK
At BSL, the children have been busy participating in our Coding & Robotics Challenge Week. The project, in collaboration with ‘ICanCode’, allowed all the children to design, program and execute their ideas using Scratch and Lego WeDo.
‘GET SPOTTED’
The challenge was for the students to ‘get spotted’ wearing their school uniform in an original place in and around Lisbon.
MAKING LISBON’S FAMOUS PASTEIS DE NATA
Only a short walk away from The British School of Lisbon is the renowned TimeOut Market. As part of our Portuguese programme, Year 4 had the opportunity to learn hands-on how to make Lisbon’s famous Pasteis de Nata.
PARENT BREAKFAST AND PHONICS WORKSHOP
As BSL were unable to hold our scheduled Parent Breakfast and Phonics Workshop in school due to Government regulations, we decided to take the event to our parents!
EXCITEMENT FOR TOPICS
It is wonderful to see the level of excitement and engagement the children are showing for their learning as their topics develop this term.
WELCOME BACK
BSL were delighted to welcome existing and new families into school last week. The smiles on the children’s faces showed that they were clearly excited to be back.
